Undergraduate Studies

Undergraduate Organic Chemistry at WSU consists of the 300-series of courses listed below.

  • Chem 345 provides an overview of organic chemistry and serves as the terminal chemistry class for many majors as well as the first class of the two semester organic chemistry sequence.
  • Chem 346 continues where chem 345 left off and is required for all chemistry majors as well as most pre-professional majors.
  • Chem 347 is the second semester lab course and has a restricted enrollment. This course is designed for chem and biochem majors intending to pursue graduate education. This course is not intended for pre-professional majors.
  • Chem 348 is a problem solving course that accompanies Chem 346. Although Chem 348 is optional, IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that you enroll in chem 348 if you are taking Chem 346. Students consistently do better if they take both courses concurrently. Chem 348 is also required for pre-professional students who must obtain 8 semester hours in organic chemistry. You may not enroll in Chem 348 with co-enrolling in Chem 346.

Transfer Students are repsonsible for reading the FAQ section for each class as well as checking the Catalog for pre-requisites. Finally, the transfer table may be of help.
